Roger Ebert

If you’re going to have an unnecessary sequel, you can do far worse than “Despicable Me 2.” Gru, his minions and his “leetle gurrls” return. Gru has become more subdued and occasionally uninteresting. Still, the cleverness of the gags and the plot merit a positive review.

IGN

"the real stars of this movie are the Minions. Where in the first film Gru's yellow henchmen were mostly played for laughs, here they become integral to the plot and are just about as involved in the story as Gru."

The Critical Movie Critics

While Despicable Me 2 may not contain as much charm or innocence of the original 2010 production, it nevertheless includes enough fun, laughs, new characters, and an interesting storyline to make it a fine family film.

Heartfelt and hilarious, smart and silly, action-packed but never violent, Despicable Me 2 is that rare sequel that outshines its beginnings.
