Note that this is very old and the quality isn’t what it would be today. Smackdown (Debut Weekly Episode) Date: August 26, 1999 Location: Kemper Arena, Kansas City, Missouri Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler Well, since I just reviewed Summerslam 99 for the series, I figured I’d throw this in as well. It’s four days since Summerslam, and all you really need to know is this: HHH won his first world title three days prior to this on Raw. That’s about it. This is also the debut of one Ayatollah of Rock and Rollah. Let’s get to it.

While the McMahon-Helmsley era technically started on Raw, the idea behind this edition of Smackdown was that it started here.

Only watch it to enjoy it. Don't let the fact that its fake sway the way you feel about it.

When even Mike Tyson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ben Stiffler have visited it, why shouldn't you like it?

I enjoyed the entire show, which I can't say very often. This was a great episode of Smackdown in that every match served it's purpose and there were a series of segments that built up to a big crescendo at the end. Big thumbs up.
